Thank the wrestling gods that the PPV is this weekend because if I had to sit through any more talks of “building momentum” I might “build momentum” into a serious drinking problem.
So the deal is I look at the Raw preview on the official WWE website and then give my opinion on it.
1) Strowman, Bálor, Roode and Owens collide
“One week after Braun Strowman defeated Bobby Roode and Finn Bálor hit Kevin Owens with a breathtaking Coup de Grâce off a ladder, all four Superstars will meet in a Fatal 4-Way Match to seize momentum before the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
This confrontation will surely give the WWE Universe a taste of the mayhem that awaits when these four competitors face SmackDown LIVE’s The Miz, Samoa Joe, Rusev and a member of The New Day in a bout where a World Championship opportunity literally hangs in the balance.”
An Idiot’s Opinion: I love all of these guys but the fact that they can’t build a believable story besides the momentum bullshit is ridiculous. I can remember when match builds would be months long, they would rarely ever be in a ring together and it would work. Now they had six weeks and had everyone on each brand touch so much there is little to any anticipation for the match that should be one of the more exciting on the card. Man, I’m getting old.
2) Will Natalya and Alexa Bliss be able to compete in a Fatal 4-Way Match?
Few details have been released regarding the condition of either The Queen of Harts or Little Miss Bliss, but both Superstars are nevertheless set to battle Sasha Banks and Ember Moon in a Fatal 4-Way Match on Raw. Who will prevail before all four women face Team Blue’s Naomi, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flairand Lana in the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match?”
An Idiot’s Opinion: They both have to be faking in the story right? A singles match between Sasha and Ember wouldn’t exactly hurt my feelings but they are in the same boat as the men. They are making things less special every single week. On a positive note I might not have to see Natalya wrestle tonight. On a negative note I will have to see her “act” and that’s ten times worse.
3) Ronda Rousey and Nia Jax meet face-to-face before their title clash
“Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax’s challenge to Ronda Rousey at the NBCUniversal Upfront last month was amicable enough. Since then, however, things have gotten downright tense between them, thanks in no small part to the pot-stirring machinations of Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon during their WWE Money in the Bank contract signing.
One week after The Irresistible Force defeated the injured Natalya — Rousey’s longtime friend and training partner — Jax is set to meet The Baddest Woman on the Planet face-to-face on Raw. Will a brawl ensue as Rousey prepares for her first title opportunity in WWE?”
An Idiot’s Opinion: I have a new wild theory on this that I will break out on the MITB preview but not today kids. Today I’ll just say that this is technically how you should be building a match…if either of these ladies could believably speak without sounding like robots. I expect a little physicality, but I’m wrong a lot you guys.
4) Roman Reigns accepts Jinder Mahal’s challenge for a match this Monday on Raw
“Jinder Mahal & Elias stole a tag team win from Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins last Monday on Raw. Later in the night, The Big Dog got a piece of The Modern Day Maharaja in a backstage encounter, and now it appears the WWE Universe won’t have to wait until WWE Money in the Bank to see the archrivals square off.
Friday on a WWE.com Exclusive, Mahal challenged Reigns to a match for Monday Night Raw, and the former WWE Champion accepted one day later. With animosity between the two Superstars at an all-time high, will there will be anything left of either competitor by the June 17 pay-per-view?”
An Idiot’s Opinion: So, I already didn’t give one solitary shit about this match and they give it to us twice in a week? Amazing stuff by the good people that think Natalya can act. I expect this to break down into a four way brawl at some point because good ideas are few and far between in that writing room.
5) How will Raw’s new “Constable” settle into his new role?
“Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon has named Baron Corbin the new “Constable” of Raw with the intent of keeping Raw General Manager Kurt Angle in line. He has already been enjoying his new position, which has thus far included berating referees and spoiling Bayley, Sasha Banks and Ember Moon’s victory party, and something tells us he’s just getting started. How will The Lone Wolf assert himself next?”
An Idiot’s Opinion: OK, we all hated this last week. We will hate it this week. What happens if they screw around and actually make us like this though? They won’t, but I’m holding out hope that Baron’s natural dickhead tendencies actually make him into a compelling character for the first time in his wrestling life. I don’t have a lot of hope though.
Overall Opinion: Only one more show to go. We can make it people, I believe in us. It’s a go home Raw so maybe they can pull something out of their asses tonight. Please I’m begging you, entertain me. I have a feeling that it will be another disappointing evening.
Please like and share this if you can, or make a comment or two. Thanks all!
